our story

Full Life Church began in January 2004 after many months of prayer and discussion.  Working in sales as an Area Coordinator at the time for a national sales company, Pete had been given responsibility for the east side of Preston, and so it was that during the course of his work that he developed a real burden for what he felt to be the obvious challenges that confronted him daily. This awareness developed into sensing a need for a church to be planted in that very area. A great deal of fasting, praying and discussing ensued; at the end of which, about a twelve to fifteen month period, Pete was left in no doubt that God was calling him and others, to plant a church in Preston's east side.

East Preston represents the toughest part of the city, it holds the highest city-wide statistics for single parent families, domestic abuse, child malnutrition and truancy to name but a few. Concern over such figures, and feeling a deep concern for its people, Pete and Rhian, and a small team of leaders, began to pray and discuss the possibility of planting a church within the area.

In the closing months of 2003 homes were canvassed, streets leafleted, and local newspapers notified including a feature on BBC Radio Lancashire. Full Life Church sought to become a church for people who didn't like going to church. In the heart of its pioneers remained the conviction that all people were created extraordinary but not all of them lived true to such a life. As a church, FLC set out to demonstrate that through a living, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, such extraordinary people could indeed realise an extraordinary life.

In January 2004 Full Life Church was launched in the Heathcotes building within Preston North End Football Ground; 'Church on the pitch!' was how one journalist from the Lancashire Evening Post coined it. Over a hundred people came to its opening day and the team saw several of these making first time commitments to Jesus, ready to embark on this extraordinary life we call 'discipleship'.

Since that time the church has continued to move forward, with the use of various venues and the addition of different ministries and expressions of church, it continues to pursue its goal of helping extraordinary people live extraordinary lives through being devoted to God, dedicated to others and desirous to serve!

In January 2012 Senior Leader Pete Goulding stepped down from his role, the church is currently in a place of transition and change as the leaders seek God for new direction as Full Life Church moves forward in to the new and exciting things that God has planned.
