Don't Just Sit There!

Jesus said that loving God and loving other people are the two most important things that we must do in life (Matthew 22:34-40). At FLC we seek to grown in these areas through our “Devoted to God” and “Dedicated to Others” programs, but this love that we are called to develop is not dormant. The author of the New Testament book of James emphasised the importance of not just having knowledge, but acting on what we believe (James 1:22-25) and he described faith that does not produce action as dead (James 2:14-26). Jesus also spoke of the importance of serving other people, saying that when we serve someone in need, we are actually serving him (Matthew 25:31-40).
Because of this call to take action on our beliefs, we also want to build a “Desire to Serve” into our members. Rather than just telling people they should be acting on their faith, we want to give them the opportunity to serve in a variety of different ways. These take the form of serving our community in practical outreach initiatives, undertaking and funding overseas mission work, and serving the church body through ministry teams.
